A gas line rupture on a Winchester street Wednesday prompted evacuations of surrounding properties.
The leak was reported at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 33200 block of Taylor Street, near Whittier Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and discovered an underground gas line breached, though the exact reasons for the damage were unclear.
Three residences were evacuated as a precaution, resulting in four people being displaced, according to officials at the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies additionally shut down Taylor, between Whittier and Winchester Road, for public safety.
SoCal Gas Co. technicians were summoned to secure the line and make repairs, which were expected to be finished before nightfall.
