A 52-year-old driver was killed Friday in a single-vehicle crash on the Ventura (134) Freeway where it crosses the Golden State (5) Freeway near the Los Angeles Zoo.
The crash was reported about 6:05 a.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Juan Castillo Talamantes.
Two lanes of the westbound Ventura Freeway at the Golden State Freeway were closed and a SigAlert was issued at 7:05 a.m. and extended at 9 a.m.
Westbound traffic on the Ventura Freeway was backed up to Glendale Avenue.
