With temperatures soaring to the mid-90s, a brush fire erupted in the Antelope Valley community of Llano Friday and quickly scorched more than 800 acres, prompting evacuation orders and warnings in the area.

The Summit Fire was reported about 12:50 p.m. Friday near Jesus Canyon Road and East Avenue Z, near the L.A.-San Bernardino County line, which initially burned through eight acres of brush.

An evacuation order was issued for the area of East Avenue Z and Fort Tejon Road, while evacuation warnings were established in other nearby areas.

Ten air tankers were dispatched to the help dump water on the fire.

By 3 p.m., the fire was measured at roughly 805 acres, with no containment and the potential to reach 1,000 acres by late afternoon.

No injuries were immediately reported. Crews on the scene reported some outbuildings had been damaged in the fire, and occupied structures were in the path of the flames.
