An evacuation order was issued and several residents were evaluated after a suspicious substance was found inside an apartment building in Hollywood Monday.
Firefighters responded at approximately 4 p.m. Monday to the 1600 block of Schrader Boulevard, between Hollywood and Sunset boulevards, following reports of a person experiencing minor symptoms after being exposed to a suspicious substance at the location, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The person was evaluated at the scene but declined additional medical assistance.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz told City News Service that several units in the apartment building were evacuated while hazmat crews conducted an investigation.
The displaced residents were evaluated and reported no medical complaints, Lantz said.
Details about the unknown substance remain limited as hazmat crews continued an ongoing investigation, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
It was not immediately clear whether the evacuation orders had been lifted.
The incident at the Hollywood apartment building marked the second response to a report of a suspicious substance Monday.
Earlier, crews responded to Los Angeles City Hall East after a powdery substance was found inside a sealed bag in a mailroom.
Fire crews evaluated a person who was not exposed to the substance and who also declined further medical assistance.
The substance found at City Hall East also remained under investigation, and authorities had not identified it.
