A former Lancaster church youth supervisor who pleaded no contest to a lewd act charge involving a girl at the church was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years to life in state prison.
Superior Court Judge Daviann Mitchell also ordered Jonathan Michael Macy, 31, to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Macy pleaded no contest Sept. 12 to a lewd act charge involving a 12- year-old girl and admitted an allegation of more than one victim, according to Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami.
Macy was initially charged in August with two counts of lewd acts on a child involving two girls during Sunday services at Grace Chapel.
The second charge — involving an 11-year-old — was dismissed as a result of his plea.
The prosecutor said last month that he informed the court that Macy could have faced charges involving four other alleged victims, but the additional potential counts were not filed as a result of the plea.
Along with being a youth supervisor at the church, Macy worked as a substitute teacher and maintenance worker at Desert Christian School, which is on the same campus. Macy also was a band teacher at St. Mary’s School in Palmdale and a substitute teacher at Grace Lutheran School in Lancaster, according to the prosecutor.
