A man was shot in the face twice in a gun battle with another man in South Los Angeles, a police sergeant said Tuesday.

The shooting happened about 10 p.m. Monday and police found the victim at 92nd and Hoover streets, said Sgt. Rudy Alaniz of the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Station.

“We think it was a suspect to suspect shooting and we don’t know where it actually occurred,” Alaniz said. The wounded man was taken to a hospital for treatment.

“He says he doesn’t know anything about a shooting,” the sergeant said.
