Authorities identified a 17-year-old boy who was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle near Palmdale on an onramp to the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway.

The accident occurred on the Sierra Highway onramp to the southbound 14 around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The teen was Jesse Martinez of Palmdale, said coroner’s Chief Craig Harvey.

Martinez rode on the onramp at high speed and entered the freeway outside marked lanes at the same time as a 2001 Audi did the same, said CHP Officer Robert Rockafellow. The teen braked and his motorcycle slid from under him, striking the Audi, Rockafellow said.

The driver of the Audi, 29-year-old Deborah Hernandez of Reseda, was not injured, Rockafellow said.
