Detectives were searching Thursday for who stabbed an 18- year-old man to death in Sylmar, Los Angeles police said.
The stabbing inside a townhouse at 14035 Astoria St. was discovered about 9 a.m. by police after a 17-year-old friend of the victim called police to say “something bad” had happened to his friend, LAPD Lt. Paul Vernon said.
Officers believed it was a life-or-death emergency and made forced entry into the home, Vernon said. Inside they discovered the lifeless body of an 18- year-old man fatally stabbed in his bed.
Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.
The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of kin.
The victim lived there with his mother and siblings, who were not at home at the time of the stabbing, Vernon said.
Detectives did not believe a family member was involved in the attack.
