A Metrolink train on the Antelope Valley line struck and killed someone in Palmdale on Sunday, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.

The crash was reported about 4:15 p.m., according to Lt. Lester Trull of the Los Angeles County Sheriff‘s Transportation Services Bureau.

The northbound train struck the woman south of Avenue S and Sierra Highway, Trull said.

The victim, a female believed to be a woman, died at the scene, he said.

No Metrolink trains would be moving through the area until the investigation scene is established and the area is deemed safe, Trull said.

Metrolink identified the train as number 265 and reported that it was seeking alternative transportation for passengers aboard train 267 to Lancaster, which stopped at the Vincent Grade/Acton Station.
