A 32-year-old lost hiker has spent the night talking and coordinating his location in San Gabriel Canyon with searchers, a sheriff’s sergeant said Tuesday.
The man first contacted authorities at 10:30 p.m. Monday to say he was lost around the Islip Saddle hiking trail, where San Gabriel Canyon Road meets the Angeles Crest Highway in the Angeles National Forest, said Sgt. Rebecca Rodriguez of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s San Dimas Station.
“He got off the trail,” Rodriguez said. “He’s not injured.”
Search and rescue team members have the hiker’s coordinates and have been looking for him all night, she said before dawn.
