The man killed in a three-vehicle collision in a Pico Rivera intersection was identified Tuesday by the coroner’s office as 59- year-old David Jaramillo of Whittier.
Four others were injured and taken to a hospital in the collision at the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Paramount Boulevard that was reported about 8 p.m. Sunday, said Miguel Ornelas, dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“It appears one driver ran a red light,” said Sgt. D. Nichiporuk of the sheriff’s Pico Rivera Station.
The driver’s vehicle was northbound on Paramount Boulevard at Slauson Avenue, then hit a vehicle eastbound on Slauson, causing it to go into the westbound lanes and collide with a westbound vehicle, Nichiporuk said.
Jaramillo was driving the eastbound vehicle, which was involved in two collisions. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Nichiporuk said.
The vehicle whose driver ran a red light rolled over, trapping the driver, Nichiporuk said. He was freed and taken to a hospital for treatment.
An investigation was underway.
