A Canyon Country man pleaded no contest Thursday to a felony count of meeting a 15-year-old girl for lewd purposes after luring her through a social media app.
Michael Anthony Byrne, 23, is facing lifetime sex offender registration and five years formal probation, with sentencing set May 7 in a San Fernando courtroom, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Byrne met the teen last August through an app that allows anonymous social media interactions, according to Deputy District Attorney Nathan Bartos.
Byrne initially pretended to be a girl who then introduced a “friend” who was also Byrne, according to the prosecutor.
Byrne was charged last November with meeting a minor for lewd purposes, along with four sex-related counts that are expected to be dismissed at his sentencing.
