Glendora police sought a man who was seen in the general area where three fires scorched a total of about a quarter-acre of brush Wednesday morning.

The fires were reported about 9:15 a.m. near Barranca and Sierra Madre avenues, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported. The flames were extinguished within about half an hour.

The man being sought was in some type of confrontation with firefighters near Fire Station 97 in the area around the time of the fires, said Glendora police Lt. Matt Williams.

Described as a “subject of interest,” the man is described as white or Hispanic, in his 30s, with short brown hair, Williams said. He was wearing a black-and-white T-shirt and tan shorts.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at (626) 914-8250, ext. 281.
