A kidnapping suspect led Los Angeles police officers on a chase Friday from Sun Valley to the Burbank Town Center mall, where he got out of the vehicle and ran off before being taken into custody.

Officers began chasing the suspect’s vehicle about 10:35 a.m. near Sunland Boulevard and La Tuna Canyon Road after a woman in her 20s called police and alleged she had been kidnapped by her boyfriend on Thursday and had escaped this morning, Los Angeles police Officer Jack Richter said.

The chase led to the Burbank mall at Third Street and Cypress Avenue, where the man got out of the vehicle and fled, Richter said.

A perimeter was set up, and the suspect was taken into custody shortly after noon. His name was not immediately released.
