Two people were killed Monday when they were thrown from a small dark sedan that appeared to have jumped a curb and struck a tree in Lynwood, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.
It happened at about midnight on Atlantic Avenue just south of Carlin Avenue, said Lt. Joseph Williams of the Century Sheriff’s Station.
“The two rear passengers were ejected and died at the scene,” Williams said. “The front seat passenger and driver suffered minor injuries.”
The deceased passengers were a man and woman, he said. The driver and front seat passenger were both women. All were in their 20s.
Traffic investigators were at the scene trying to learn the circumstances that led to the crash and whether speed or alcohol were involved, Williams said. Atlantic Avenue was closed south of Carlin Avenue.
