A 55-year-old man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a felony charge stemming from a hit-and-run crash that killed a 4-year-old girl in Glendale in March.

Shant Badleean of Glendale could face up to four years in state prison if convicted of hit-and-run driving resulting in death. A date is scheduled to be set June 29 for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require him to stand trial.

Violeta Khachaturyan was with her parents when she ran from the north side of Wilson Avenue in between two vehicles and was hit in the westbound lane by a westbound car and thrown into a parked vehicle just before 5 p.m. on March 6, Glendale police said.

The girl was taken to Glendale Adventist Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead soon after arrival.
