A man pleaded guilty Monday to charges stemming from a downtown Los Angeles drug operation discovered after a fire in which two dogs were killed last summer.
Rafael Sarkisyan, 34, of Los Angeles pleaded guilty to one count each of manufacturing a controlled substance, recklessly causing fire to an inhabited structure and animal cruelty.
Authorities found a marijuana grow and extraction lab after responding to a fire last July 18 at the six-story apartment building. Police discovered the two dead dogs inside a unit.
Sarkisyan is expected to be sentenced Aug. 4 to six years and eight months in state prison, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
