A driver was trapped and critically injured Thursday when a compact SUV left a downtown overpass and crashed onto the street below.
The crash was reported at 7:12 p.m. in the 300 block of Figueroa Street, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
It appeared the driver, aged in his 50s, suffered a medical emergency as he was on the Fourth Street bridge, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Jesse Garcia said.
