Firefighters on Fire knocked down a 10-acre bush fire in the West Hills area, where temperatures were in the mid-90s but winds were light.
No structures were threatened by the fire, which was reported shortly before 1 p.m. in rugged terrain near the 24000 block of Vanowen Street, said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The fire was knocked down by about 6 p.m., officials said.
The LAFD had 194 personnel on scene. The Los Angeles and Ventura county fire departments also responded.
The terrain was difficult to access. As ground crews struggled to establish hand lines, the fire was fought primarily from the air, Stewart said.
Temperatures in the area were in the mid-90s but winds were light, she said.
