A standoff with a man thought to be armed with a knife ended peacefully in Palms on Thursday with the suspect taken into custody.

The arrest was made in a multi-level parking lot adjoining a Big Lots store in the 3100 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard around 9:45 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department Lt. John Jenal said.

On- and off-ramps to the nearby San Diego (405) Freeway at National and Venice boulevards, and transition roads from the Santa Monica (10) Freeway to the southbound San Diego Freeway were re-opened around 10 p.m. Jenal said.

The parking lot and the suspect’s vehicle were being searched for weapons, Jenal said.
