A smoking electrical box at a condominium complex in Duarte led to the discovery Wednesday of a possible marijuana growing operation, authorities said.
Firefighters were called about 6:55 p.m. to the 1300 block of Valencia Lane, Lt. Mark Reyes of the sheriff’s Temple Station said.
Reyes said the suspected operation will be locked down and narcotics detectives will investigate in the morning, but a videographer at the scene said a Los Angeles County Fire Department hazmat crew at the complex about 8:30 p.m. was suiting up and appeared to be getting ready to go inside.
No one was immediately detained or arrested, Reyes said.
