Arvizu, who has remained jailed since his May 24 arrest, was initially charged with two felony counts of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury involving a separate victim.
Arvizu allegedly assaulted a friend who gave him a ride home from a party that the defendant attended with his wife, according to Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer.
If convicted as charged, Arvizu could face up to 30 years to life in state prison.
