A former Los Angeles police officer who offered to furnish hydrocodone to an undercover LAPD detective on a classified ad website was sentenced Tuesday to 480 hours of community service and three years of probation.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Frederick Wapner immediately sentenced Randolph Agard after the 41-year-old defendant pleaded no contest to one count each of sale or transportation for sale of a controlled substance and possession for sale of a controlled substance.

Agard — who was fired from the police force earlier this year — responded in April 2014 to a classified ad placed on the Internet by the LAPD’s Northeast Narcotic Enforcement Detail that sought drugs as part of an undercover operation.

LAPD narcotics officers recovered 20 hydrocodone pills from Agard’s jacket pocket when he arrived at a pre-arranged meeting place and was arrested, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
