A Los Angeles city councilman on Thursday joined family members of a 51-year-old woman who was gunned down in the Westlake District to announce a $50,000 reward in hopes of solving the nearly three-year-old murder case.
Officers responding to a call of shots fired on Dec. 11, 2012, found Lorri Ann Anderson on the sidewalk in the area of Eight and Coronado streets suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
She was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Los Angeles Police Department investigators say a man got out of a dark- colored car and shot her, but they have no idea why.
“We cannot have justice unless we capture the cowards who engaged in this heinous crime,” City Councilman Gil Cedillo said at a news conference at LAPD headquarters.
One of Anderson’s daughters said her mother’s death has left an irreparable gap in their family.
“I just want justice for my mother, for my children who will never know their grandmother,” said Suzanna Reyes.
Another daughter, Nicole Gilbert Anderson, described her mother’s generosity, saying she would help friends overcome addiction, act as a mother to those who never had one in their lives and give “her last bit of food to someone who needed it just a bit more than she did.”
Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to contact Detective C. Camacho of the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division at (213) 486-6858. After-hours and weekend calls can be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7, and anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
