A dispute between two men led to a shooting that left a 9-month-old girl with a gunshot wound to the thigh, police said Monday.

It occurred near at 7:15 p.m. Saturday at Wakefield Avenue and Osborne Street, near the site of a family event, where between two and four people were arguing, said Sgt. Jim Bender of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Mission Station. One man fired at the other but missed, and the stray bullet hit the infant, who was in a stroller, he said.

The infant was hospitalized at Northridge Hospital with stable vital signs. Both the shooter and intended victim fled the scene, Bender said.

Anyone with information on the shooting was urged to call the LAPD’s Mission division at (818) 838-9800.
