A woman in her 30s was killed and seven other people were injured in a four-car crash this afternoon in Canyon County, the sheriff’s department reported.
The collision took place about 1:30 p.m. at Plum Canyon and Golden Valley roads, said Deputy Jason Godecke, acting watch commander of the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley station.
“We have one person dead, a woman in her 30s, and multiple injuries, moderate or minor,” Godecke said. “There were four cars involved and there’s no indication at this time that drugs or alcohol were involved.”
The name of the fatal victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin. Godecke said she was one of the drivers involved in the crash.
Seven other victims were hospitalized for treatment of injuries, said county fire Dispatch Supervisor Chris Reade.
Authorities closed the intersection while the crash was investigated, Godecke said.
