A security guard was shot and wounded Thursday in an apparent exchange of gunfire outside a jewelry store in Chinatown.
The shooting occurred about 11 a.m. in front of the Kim Phuoc Jewelry store in the 800 block of North Broadway, according to Los Angeles Police Officer Jane Kim.
Paramedics treated the man for a wound to an arm or hand, according to reports from the scene.
Witnesses said there was an exchange of gunfire, possibly between the guard and suspects in a passing vehicle.
“I heard gunshots, maybe about a dozen gunshots,” Jonathan Coleman told NBC4. “There was two guns going off … a shootout.”
No arrests were reported, but police were checking a red SUV found a few blocks from the jewelry store — possibly with gunshot damage — that may have been involved in the shooting.
