A metal canopy collapsed at a Torrance gas station Monday, damaging two vehicles and injuring one worker.
The canopy over the fuel pumps at the Chevron gas station at Artesia Boulevard and Prairie Avenue collapsed about 2:50 p.m., said Capt. Steve Deuel of the Torrance Fire Department.
It was unclear exactly what caused the collapse, but much of the Southland was battered with gusting winds Monday.
Deuel said “it appeared to be a failure of the roof structure. There were workers on the roof trying to get down when the failure occurred. It looked pretty bad, but luckily only one person had minor injuries.”
