A 38-year-old convicted felon was arrested when officers found guns and drugs in a car involved in a crash in Whittier, police said Friday.

Officers responded to the crash Wednesday morning in the 15400 block of Whittier Boulevard and while treating one of the involved drivers, noticed a handgun hidden in the car, according to the Whittier Police Department.

“Officers conducted a field investigation and recovered a handgun, assault rifle, sawed-off shotgun, ammunition and drugs from the vehicle,” according to police.

The arrested suspect was identified as transient Joshua David Fink, who was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, possession of illegal weapons and possession of drugs while armed, police said.

He also had outstanding warrants, police said.

Fink was being held without bail at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles, according to sheriff’s online jail records.
