Authorities Thursday arrested a suspect who led police on a chase in an SUV to a San Gabriel neighborhood before a gunfight with officers as the suspect tried to escape.

Initial reports indicate no one was hurt by the gunfire.

After the chase, police conducted a search for the wanted SUV driver in the area of Del Mar Avenue and the San Bernardino (10) Freeway.

According to reports from the scene, police stopped the suspect’s SUV about 4:30 a.m., but he drove away and then led officers to a cul-de-sac where he got out and ran off.

The California Highway Patrol closed Del Mar Avenue offramps and onramps in the area in an effort to limit vehicles from entering the search zone.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department assisted San Gabriel Police in the search. The suspect was taken into custody shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to broadcast reports.
