A Los Angeles police officer responding to a domestic violence call in Pacoima opened fire Wednesday on a charging dog, and while the shot missed, the animal suffered a minor ricochet injury.
Details were still sketchy, and the breed of the dog was not disclosed, nor were any other details provided to reporters about the incident.
Officers were dispatched at 11:20 a.m. to a home in the 13600 block of Judd Street on a domestic violence call when the dog charged them and an officer fired a shot at the dog, said Sgt. Scott Kennedy of the LAPD’s Foothill station.

Somehow a fragment of the bullet — from a ricochet — struck the dog, Kennedy said.
The dog survived and no officers were injured, he said. No arrests were made related to the original domestic violence call.
“It was just an argument,” Kennedy said.
