A Lexus sedan crashed into a parked pickup in an Azusa alley and police found the gang-member driver murdered by a gunshot to the head.

The victim’s passenger was also shot, but he was later released from a hospital.

It happened in the 600 block of Dalton Avenue, according to sheriff’s Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez.

Responding Sunday, Azusa Police officers found a Lexus sedan that crashed into a parked pickup in an alley just north of Sixth Street.

Inside, the 21-year-old driver was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Navarro-Suarez. His name was withheld pending notification of kin.

Paramedics rushed the other male victim, aged 20, to an area hospital. He was treated and later released from the hospital, Navarro-Suarez said.

According to the sheriff’s department, the driver was a known gang member. But it’s unknown if the shooting was gang-related at this point.

There was no suspect description at this point, Navarro-Suarez said.
