The decaying body of a homeless man was found shot to death in a dry Azusa riverbed, and law enforcement authorities asked the public for help in solving the murder mystery.
Alexander Morales, 47, was identified Thursday after he was found dead about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday near the aqueduct at Sierra Madre and Todd avenues, according to the sheriff’s department and the coroner’s office.
The victim appeared to have been there for a couple of days, sheriff’s Deputy Kimberly Alexander said.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were assisting Azusa police in the investigation. Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
