A 23-year-old Anaheim man riding a motorcycle was killed when he desperately tried to avoid one car but slammed into another before wildly driving off a freeway in Van Nuys, authorities said.
It happened Sunday about 10:20 a.m. on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway at Victory Boulevard, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
David S. Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene, Stewart said.
Harrison was heading north on the 405 about 50 miles per hour on his motorcycle, when he swerved to avoid a Prius in the number 4 lane and slammed into the rear of a Hyundai Sonata in the number 5 lane, the California Highway Patrol said.
The motorcycle then veered onto the freeway’s right shoulder and crashed into a guard rail, ejecting Harrison from the cycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two people in the Prius sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
