Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area officials took to Twitter and Facebook Thursday, posting a picture of the rock with “Prom?” scrawled on it in white, the Los Angeles Times reported.
“We love hearing about creative promposals, but damaging public lands is not the way to do it,” a spokesman identified only as “Ranger Zach” posted on a Facebook page.
Sandstone Peak is an “easy” hike about seven miles from Malibu into Ventura County, according to an online hiking site.
Officials told The Times it is the second year in a row the same graffiti message has been scrawled on a rock near Sandstone Peak.
