Firefighters battled a flaming oil spill, which resulted from a large truck fire Saturday in the Florence neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
One person was medically evacuated with unknown injuries, Bastman said.
The truck, in the 500 block of East 61st Street near South Avalon Boulevard was fully-involved but has since been extinguished, Bastman said.
The fire caused an estimated 500 gallons of waste oil to spill onto the road, some of which caught fire and ran into storm drains. The drains emitted moderate pressurized smoke, Bastman said.
The fire was reported at 11:50 p.m. Saturday night. LAFD’s hazardous materials squad is on scene.
