A 13-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday for bringing what turned out to be a BB gun to his younger sister’s elementary school in Bellflower, authorities said.
The boy went to Ramona Elementary School at 9351 Laurel St. and got into a fistfight with someone he believed had harassed his sister, according to Sgt. Steve Moses of the sheriff’s Lakewood Station.
As he was leaving the campus, the teen reached into his backpack and a teacher saw what looked like a gun, which the boy then slipped back into his pack, the sergeant said.
Deputies went to the boy’s home and arrested him on suspicion of bringing a gun — which turned out to be a BB gun — onto school grounds, Moses said.
“At no time did he point it at anyone,” the sergeant said.
The boy is not a student at Ramona, Moses said.
The Bellflower Unified School District superintendent’s office declined comment.
