A 22-year-old woman was killed when her car veered off the Pomona (60) Freeway in East Los Angeles and down an embankment, California Highway Patrol officials said Monday.

Officers dispatched at 2:44 a.m. Saturday to the scene found a white Infinity Q50 down the embankment of the westbound freeway near Downey Road, the CHP reported.

The woman, a resident of Rosemead, was ejected from the car and was suffering major injuries. Paramedics took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 4:40 a.m. Saturday. She was the lone occupant inside the vehicle.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The CHP’s East Los Angeles office asked anyone who saw the crash to call them at (323) 980-4600.
