County firefighters quickly knocked down a small brush fire Tuesday that charred about a quarter-acre of vegetation near the Orange (57) Freeway in Diamond Bar, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The fire which was reported at 1:50 p.m. was burning near the Brea Canyon Road off-ramp on the 57 Freeway, county fire Inspector Gustavo Medina and the California Highway Patrol said.

The fire department dispatched seven engines and four camp crews to battle the flames, Medina said.

Meanwhile, the CHP shut down the number 3 and 4 lanes near the Brea offramp as well as closing the offramp.

A SigAlert was declared at 2:07 p.m. by the CHP. The lanes were eventually reopened and the SigAlert canceled at 3:25 p.m., according to CHP Officer Alex Rubio.

Medina said firefighters gained full containment at 2:13 p.m.

No houses were threatened and no injuries reported, Medina said.
