A 26-year-old motorist was killed when another driver, while racing with another motorist, ran a red light in the Rosewood community of unincorporated Los Angeles and struck his car, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.

The allegedly speeding motorist, who was driving a 2013 Dodge, suffered moderate injuries and was later arrested. Alcohol is being considered a factor in the crash, the CHP reported. The driver is a 22-year-old resident of Torrance.

The crash occurred at 11:10 p.m. Friday in the area of Main Street and Rosecrans Avenue. The Dodge was going northbound on Main Street, racing another vehicle, when it ran the red light at the intersection and struck the driver side of a 1995 Chevrolet, the CHP said. The driver of the Chevy, the lone occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a 26-year-old resident of Carson.

Three occupants in the 2013 Dodge were also hurt in the crash. A 24-year- old man suffered major injuries, a 16-year-old boy suffered moderate injuries and a 24-year-old man suffered minor injuries. All are residents of Gardena.
