A suspect who stabbed two people following a fight in Cathedral City over the holiday weekend, leaving both victims hospitalized, remained at large Tuesday.
The double stabbing occurred about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the 68500 block of East Palm Canyon Drive, said Cmdr. Julio Luna.
Police received calls regarding an “altercation” on East Palm Canyon Drive and later located the victims north of the stabbing scene, near Dinah Shore and Cathedral Canyon drives, but a search of the area did not turn up the suspect. They were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with non-life-threatening injuries, the commander said.
The reason for the fight has not been established, according to Luna, who said the victims were stabbed with a knife or box cutter.
The attacker was described as a Hispanic man between 20 and 30 years old with a shaved head and medium build. He’s about 5-foot-5 and 150 pounds and was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone who may have witnessed the stabbing or has any information about the suspect was encouraged to call the Cathedral City Police Department at (760) 770-0300.
