A man in his 40s who fell from the Belmont Pier and was pulled from the water without a pulse was resuscitated by Long Beach firefighters, the department announced Saturday.

Paramedics began CPR and other life-saving measures when the unidentified man was taken out of the water at about 5:45 p.m. Friday, according to Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Brian Fisk.

Those measures continued as the man was taken to the Ballast Point Dock in Alamitos Bay before being brought to the hospital.

Paramedics managed to revive the man on the way to the hospital, Fisk said. His current condition was unknown.
