
A trapped victim was killed in a Cypress Park vehicle crash north of downtown Los Angeles Sunday, and an unknown number of people were injured.
Few details about the crash were yet available, but the dead man was identified as Jose Lara, 48, of Los Angeles, coroner’s Investigator Kristy McCracken said.
The crash happened just after 2 a.m. in the area of West Avenue 44 and North Figueroa Street across a freeway north of Dodger Stadium and downtown Los Angeles, according to Officer Drake Madison of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section.
It was unknown if the victim died at the scene or at an area hospital, Madison said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the location on a report of a person trapped inside a vehicle, and two ambulances rushed an unknown number of people to an area hospital, Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
