Ten people were injured Sunday in a wreck that involved an off-road recreation vehicle and a passenger vehicle in a backcountry area on State Route 74.
Three people were seriously wounded, one person suffered moderate injuries and six people sustained minor injuries, according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.
The crash was reported at 12:03 p.m. in the 70000 block of State Route 74 in the Mountain Center area near Pinyon Pines, just southeast of Garner Valley.
Three helicopters and four ground ambulances were summoned to transport victims to a hospital.
The cause of the crash was not immediately available.
