
A 22-year-old Covina man believed to be armed and holding his 7-month-old daughter with him in the car has been engaged in a standoff with police for hours, according to a police officer.
The standoff — which had been going for about four to five hours as of 8 p.m. — was at Wingate Park in the 700 block of North Glendora Avenue near East Wingate Street, Covina police Officer Ray Marquez said.

The unidentified man has made threats to hurt himself, Marquez said in a tweet.
Covina police have been negotiating with the suspect and summoned a mental evaluation team to assist a bid to accomplish a peaceful surrender.
