A 67-year-old woman was shot to death Thursday and the 75-year-old gunman, who police believe to be her husband, attempted suicide before police arrived at their Mar Vista home.
The shooting was reported around 5:25 p.m. in the 4200 block of Corinth Avenue, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Division.
Arriving officers found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound and the man unconscious, Lopez said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was taken to a hospital for treatment and was in police custody for the woman’s death, Lopez said. Lopez did not know how the man attempted suicide but ABC7 reported he may have tried to overdose.
