Firefighters Sunday put out a stubborn greater alarm fire at a personal storage business in North Hollywood.

Dispatched at 5:33 a.m. to 10855 W. Vanowen St., firefighters had the fire out at 6:11 a.m., said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“Firefighters had to force entry into numerous individual storage lockers in order to access the fire,” Stewart said.

The structure was built in 1977 and the fire was centered in a mezzanine in the rear portion of the single-story building, she said.

The blaze was located near Art Kraft Taxidermy, which specializes in “museum quality” taxidermied animals for sale and rent. According to reports from the scene, Art Kraft was utilizing the storage area.

The Art Kraft storefront is located at 10851 Vanowen St.

Losses to Art Kraft as a result of the fire are unknown at press time.

No injuries were reported and a cause of the fire was under investigation.
