Authorities Wednesday identified a man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in South Los Angeles following a crash.
Primitivo Macias-Rodriguez, 46, of Los Angeles, died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred just after 6 p.m. Monday at San Pedro Street and Florence Avenue.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Metro Division had spotted a car being driven erratically in the area of Florence Avenue and Main Street and began following the vehicle, according to the LAPD. The car then collided with two vehicles before striking a light pole, said LAPD Detective Meghan Aguilar.
The driver was allegedly armed, and an officer-involved shooting occurred when officers approached the crash scene, Aguilar said.
The occupants of the two vehicles struck by the suspect’s car sustained only minor injuries and were not taken to a hospital, she said.
