Police Wednesday released surveillance images of a masked suspect who assaulted an employee while attempting to rob a South Los Angeles doughnut shop.
The suspect entered the business in the 100 block of West Florence Avenue, near First Street, about 10 p.m. on Jan. 18, jumped over the counter, grabbed an employee by the collar, pointed a gun at him and forced him to the cash register, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim was unable to open the register as ordered, police said.
“The suspect then became frustrated, chambered a round and shoved (the employee) into a nearby wall,” according to a police statement. “The suspect fled on foot without any property.”
The suspect is described as Hispanic, about 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, around 140 pounds. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, a black ski mask and was carrying a black semi-automatic handgun. His vehicle is described as a dark, four-door.
Anyone with information about the suspect or who recognizes him from surveillance images was urged to call (323) 846-6572 to speak with Detective Trimino or Detective DeAvila. During non-business hours or on the weekends, calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7.
