A twice convicted drunken driver was charged Tuesday with an alcohol-fueled four-vehicle crash on the Riverside (91) Freeway in Anaheim that seriously injured two senior citizens and a 13-year-old boy.
Rogelio Said Garciajimenez, 31, pleaded not guilty to driving drunk causing injury and denied sentencing enhancement allegations of causing great bodily injury on an elder and great bodily injury to the younger victim.
The collision occurred just before 4:30 p.m. Friday in the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway, east of Imperial Highway, said California Highway Patrol Officer Paul Fox.
The injured victims — a 79-year-old man, a 78-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy — were in one of the four vehicles involved in the crash, which left the defendant with minor injuries, Fox said.
Garciajiminez’s blood-alcohol level was measured at .11, above the legal limit of .08, according to court records.
Garciajiminez pleaded guilty on Jan. 7, 2009, to drunken driving and was sentenced to 65 days of community service, according to court records, which show he also pleaded guilty to DUI on July 14, 2014, and was sentenced to 60 days in jail and placed on five years of probation.
